2025 Aquatic Assistant Manager

Salary (Hourly): $13 – $15   ¨   Schedule: Varied

Position Overview:
As the Assistant Aquatic Center Manager, you will work closely with the Aquatic Center Manager to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the facility. Your role will include assisting with staff management, overseeing daily operations, and maintaining a clean and organized facility. In the absence of the Manager, you will take on full managerial responsibilities. This is a seasonal position that requires flexibility, including working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading, supervising, and training the lifeguard team, ensuring a positive and energetic work environment.
  • Work complementary hours to the Aquatic Center Manager, and help cover lifeguard shifts as needed.
  • Support the scheduling of lifeguards and assist in ensuring proper staffing for pool events and daily operations.
  • Handle guest inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Enforce all safety and facility policies of the Aquatic Center.
  • Oversee the completion of daily paperwork and facility checklists in the absence of the Aquatic Center Manager.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for the bathhouse, pool area, and other facilities.
  • Assist with managing and approving timecards, as well as reporting inventory and service updates to the City Administrator.
  • Participate in closing decisions due to inclement weather or unsafe pool conditions.
  • Train employees on the POS system and ensure its proper use.
  • Perform lifeguarding duties as needed and assist with pool parties and events.
  • Provide end-of-season feedback and assist with reporting.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within an aquatic or recreational facility.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with scheduling and staff oversight.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-accountability, emotional awareness, and the ability to exercise good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and quickly learn POS systems and software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and frequently swim, walk, stand, and stoop in a heat-sensitive environment.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme heat.
  • The role involves physical demands such as swimming, lifting, and working in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment.
